Our Vision for Camp Nooteeming*

Pending Approval of the Hudson Valley Council Board

Camping and Lodging
Operational: Upgrade campsites to each include a cooking pavilion.
Tactical: Add varied and alternative overnight facilities (e.g. patrol-sized cabins, long lean-tos, tee-pees, tree houses, forts, etc.).
Strategic: 1) Add two cabins capable of winter use (one to serve as a nature lodge during summer season, the other a possible science and technology station, high adventure base or training center); 2) Add composting toilets to each campsite to eliminate pumping costs.

Entranceway/Parking
Operational: Create grandiose entranceway.
Tactical: Relocate parking lot to minimize in-camp traffic and accommodate major events.
Strategic: Add second entrance to eliminate in-camp traffic.

Waterfront
Operational: 1) Install fountain for aesthetic beauty and to keep water circulating so as to curb the algae problem. 2) Acquire a fleet of kayaks and paddleboats.
Tactical: Install possible zip-line/monkey bridge on lake
Strategic: 1) Dredge Lake; 2) Explore alternative lake/pool locations.

Athletics
Operational: Build sand volleyball court and horseshoe pit.
Tactical: Route mountain bike trails and acquire a patrol’s worth of bikes.
Strategic: Install in-line skating rink.

C.O.P.E.
Operational: Low Ropes/Team-Building Course
Tactical: Rappelling and Rock Climbing Tower
Strategic: High Ropes Course

Shooting Sports
Operational: Upgrade archery facility and inventory.
Tactical: Build shotgun and black powder ranges.
Strategic: Build second rifle range, turning the existing range into a Cub Scout bb range.

Program
Operational: 1) Improve the Red Trail; 2) Create permanent Indian Village (ongoing project); 3) Create marked orienteering course.
Tactical: (1) Develop obstacle course and army-like fitness course; (2) Build fishing area and dock. (3) Construct firehouse/campmaster headquarters.
Strategic: Develop in-house or external equestrian program.

Winter Use
Operational: Continue improving roads and drainage.
Tactical: 1) Convert existing buildings into four-season lodging; 2) Clear a sledding hill; 3) Install a toboggan run.
Strategic: Install snowmaking machines, T-bar lift and tube run.

* Excludes general maintenance including renovations and equipment acquisitions.
